Project Economist at KTH's Finance Department

Responsibilities

As a project economist with us, you will be responsible for the financial management of research projects and support researchers/project leaders throughout the project cycle, from application to completed projects, focusing on financial administrative tasks. The work is done in close collaboration with the school's researchers/project leaders. The project economist also supports one or more department heads in matters related to financial management. The work includes tasks such as:

• Advising and supporting in budgeting before applications
• Project budgeting after approved applications
• Final accounts and monitoring of revenues and costs within grant projects
• Financial reporting to funders
• Communication with funders and possibly participating partners to ensure compliance with financial and administrative requirements
• Working with budget and forecasts for one or more departments
• Other administrative tasks may also occur

Qualifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance or work experience that the employer deems equivalent
• Experience working with accounting and follow-up
• Communicative ability and the ability to explain financial concepts in an understandable way
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing – both languages are required in daily work as we operate in an international environment
• Good knowledge of the Office suite
• Experience working in financial systems (e.g., Agresso, SAP, or similar)

To succeed in the role of economist, you need to be independent, structured, quality-conscious, and service-oriented. Additionally, you need to have pedagogical insight and thrive in an environment with many contact points and varied tasks.

Meritorious

• Experience working independently with accounting, final accounts, and reporting of grant-funded projects.
• Experience working with budget and forecasts and supporting a management function in financial matters.
• Experience with similar tasks at KTH or another higher education institution or another research-intensive organization or authority
• Experience working in Agresso
